Beautiful French confit pot sourced in Southern France and dating back to the late 1800's to early 1900's.
Confit pots were originally used to preserve foods, such as oils, meats and were buried in the ground to keep a cold temperature. They were half glazed to keep the pot watertight and cool and were less expensive than glazing the whole pot.
This semi glazed pot has really stood the test of time, and with its stunning patina, drippy glaze and time worn appearance it does have some cracking and chips which we believe just adds to its character and charm.
